1. It is not recommended for patients aged over 45 years because their lip corners start dropping naturally, making it hard to get the required shape.

2. If you have dental problem, for instance, big gap between teeth (Diastema), teeth stick out, anterior cross bite. It is recommended to visit dentist or orthodontist to get the teeth fix and get it done first.

3. Lip Surgery is not advised for patients with braces who have teeth not all right tighten yet.

4. Lip Surgery is not recommended for patients who show too much gum tissue when smiling.

5. Lip Surgery is not recommended for patients who have very thin lips. Basically, some 10-30 % of the tissue will be removed in the surgery. If the existing tissue is too thin, it may cause over- reduction.

6. Patients who have an asymmetrical lip, asymmetric smile, uneven cupid's bow.

7. Patients who have known risk factors for developing keloids should avoid lip surgery. Those with darkly pigmented skin are more prone to keloids.
